Today we are excited to have Kristin Miller here to promote her latest release Last Vamp Standing. Please make her feel welcome.
Please tell our followers a little about yourself. What is a typical day in the life of ‘you’?
I’m a stay-at-home mother of two, so my day starts and ends with my kids. I take them to school then sit down to write from about 8:30-noon. After that, I take care of household stuff, homework, dinner, etc. (I’m trying to make this exciting, I swear I am.) When the kids go to bed I either watch shameless reality television or write a bit more depending on what I have going on.
Do you have a current work in progress? If so, can you tell us a little about it?
I’m currently writing two erotic paranormal romance novellas to continue my Isle of Feralon series with Harlequin Cravings. The novellas take place on an enchanted isle where dragons rule the skies, werewolves rule the land, and merfolk rule the sea. They’ll release sometime next year. I’m also working on a three book paranormal romance/urban fantasy series.
What has been the hardest emotionally or time consuming thing you’ve had to research for one of your stories?
When I was writing Vamped Up (Book #2 in the Vampires of Crimson Bay series) I wanted the final black moment to take place at Fort Point in San Francisco…only I’d never been there before. I took a day trip and toured the fort. It was awesome to be able to look at something from a completely different angle. For example, instead of climbing the stairs to the roof and admiring the view, I climbed the stairs wondering how fast I could get up them if a dark, shadowed creature was chasing me. When I reached the roof, I eyed the bridge, wondering if my hero could jump from one of the trusses to the guard tower. It was freezing cold, but instead of hunkering into my coat and slipping inside, I took notes on how numb my hands were and how quickly the wind stole the breath from my lungs. Each of those things added depth to the scene and it wouldn’t have been the same had I not experienced that first hand.
Do you read reviews of your books? If so, do you pay attention to them enough to influence your writing?
I read reviews, but don’t put much weight into them. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and there are some stories readers are bound to love or hate. Great reviews always make my day—I can’t help it. I walk around with a smile on my face and I have to admit the writing flows more smoothly after that. I used to let bad reviews stall my writing for a day, but I’ve learned to let it go…after a hard spin class and glass of wine. ;)

Author Bio
Kristin Miller has had a passion for language and literature her whole life. Born and raised in Small Town USA, she often made up stories about faraway places and edge-of-your-seat adventures.
After graduating from Humboldt State University with a degree in psychology, Kristin realized there is no scarier place than the warped human psyche. Wanting to combine her love of writing with her desire to paint twisted villains, Kristin wound up in the unlikeliest of places—the class-room. She taught high school and middle school English before giving in to the desire to create her own world, where villains can be sympathetic and heroes can be devilishly good.
She is represented by Nalini Akolekar of Spencerhill Associates Ltd. and writes dark paranormal romances and toe curling romantic suspense.
