What does Halloween bring out in you?
Alyssa: I don’t always dress up for Halloween, but there is something transformative about putting on a costume. I tend to bring out the bad girl part of me on Halloween and love to put a sexy twist on my get up. Corsets, fishnets and some platform stilettos are sure to be on hand. I’ve been a lady gangster, a biker chick and a zombie retro starlet. It’s nice to have one day when you’re not expected to be yourself … or then again maybe it’s the one day you can really let your secret self shine.
Jennifer: Halloween brings out the evil candy gobbling gnome who lives in my left foot. She's a nasty, greedy little witch--always snarfing up all the candy, knocking kids over to get to the bowl first. She has feet like a monkey, with crazy opposable toes. So, often you'll find her in a tree, wearing a ripped-off tiara, glow necklace, fourteen pairs of socks, and carrying a cattle prod in case she tuns into a particularly stubborn child who won't give up their bag of treats.
Eden: For me, Halloween is all about the naughty. It's one of the very few nights of the year where you can hide your inhibitions behind a mask and dress as saucy as you like. From the moment the sun starts to descend I suddenly feel like I have a free pass to be wicked and wanton...only with my husband of course. It's the time of year when you can gain confidence with a super hero costume or pretend to be more adventurous than you normally are. In other words, Halloween is about suppressing my adult responsibilities and acting totally bat shit crazy.
Vristen: Halloween brings out the mischievous side of me, more often than not. There’s almost this unspoken permission, if you will, to get crazy and be over the top. People just smile and shake their heads like, “It is Halloween, after all!” It’s a bit “anything goes” and I love that about it.
Now it's your turn. What does Halloween bring out in you?

I think Halloween brings out the mischief in everyone. It's the one night a year where the darkest creatures can come to light, and it's normal! Thanks for the post and the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteHalloween is a time for things that go bump in the night and the not so normal is normal
ReplyDeleteIt also a moment that you can dress up and be something that you aren't
Good question :)

ReplyDeleteBeing Australian I don't get to experience Halloween like you guys. It's great to read your responses.
Fab post ladies. Halloween brings out my creativity. I go nuts on halloween. Every year we build a bigger and better Haunted house in the basement, decorate the outside so its the scariest house on the block and back every type of skeleton and spider cupcake known to monster.
ReplyDeleteI love a good ménage story. I can't wait to read.
ReplyDeleteI never thought about a book like this centered around a theme of Halloween, but now that I have I really like the idea. I'm willing to bet there are a lot of things you can do with that theme ;)
ReplyDeleteI wish I was better at celebrating the holiday, but I don't like going to clubs and that seems to be all my friends ever want to do on Halloween.
Congratulations on your release of Phantom Pleasure!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I love Halloween so much that a few years after we were married he got together with some of his friends and they got a local business owner to donate a house for them to use that he was going to be tearing down and they set up the first "Haunted House" in the state donating all the proceeds to charity!
We live in Rhode Island and they "kicked off" the opening with getting coverage from the local news station to welcome the "monsters" coming off a plane at the airport. They had people coming from all over the state to find out what the "haunted house" was all about!
Fortunately we live in a small neighborhood and the local children can safely go trick-or-treating. It's so much fun seeing them all dressed up in their costumes and reminds me of when our own son were that age and the excitment they had and how much fun it was to see them deciding on which houses to go to first! Of course my husband hads to "decorate" the house with pumpkins and webs and have "spooky" music playing! (He's also been known to dress up himself to "great" the goblins who knock on our door!
Wow that sounds awesome. You guys spend so much money on Halloween. I wish it was another one of those holidays that Australia copied from the US but nobody really participates here. :(
DeleteI hope you have a great one this year.
I love Halloween. It is so much fun.,

ReplyDeleteI do like Halloween but its not my most favourite time of the year though it is fun seeing the kids get all excited (from sweets and chocolate and god knows what else! :D) The firework displays are always the best, there is sometimes also a torchlit procession to the hill of ward close to where I live in Ireland for Halloween as its said its where Samhain began :) Thanks for the giveaway!

I love to see the kids come round in their costumes - makes me remember what a fun time I had as a kid trying to get to as many houses as possible.
